Come indulge in a unique fish and chips experience! The standout feature at Fish Haymarket is its innovative approach to traditional fish and chips. Many patrons rave about the gluten-free options on the menu, catering to those with dietary restrictions. The generous portion sizes at reasonable prices, especially during lunchtime meal deals, draw in a steady crowd. The garlic mayo served with the fries is consistently highlighted as a must-try, adding an exceptional twist to standard chips. The friendly and accommodating staff, who sometimes even help out in a pinch, further uplifts the experience. This contributes to a communal atmosphere; sitting next to fellow chip enthusiasts sparks conversations about local eats. The diverse menu options, including vegan-friendly dishes, ensure there's something for everyone.
While the food usually receives high praise, some patrons mention inconsistency in service timings during peak hours, particularly at lunchtime. On Wednesdays around 1 PM, the shop tends to reach full capacity, which may result in longer wait times. Additionally, some customers noted that the selection of vegan options, though present, could be expanded further to capture the taste of more diners. There have also been mentions of needing more seating for those who wish to dine-in; the cozy space can fill up quickly. Lastly, a few visitors desired more variety in the drinks offered, as the beverage selection is relatively basic compared to the expansive food menu. Fortunately, the quality of the fries and the signature batter has turned first-time patrons into repeat customers.
Was our last night in Edinburgh, and we needed a fish and chip fix. The restaurant next door was not serving food due to a large group, so I asked the bartender for a close by recommendation. He lives in the area, so he suggested this place. The fish and chips were excellent! Exactly what we needed.
Honestly most chippys can be very hit or miss but this chippy to me has been consistently well above average, I've had a lot of orders from them and some I would rate 5 and some 4. Overall they are worth buying from compared to other places.
I lost my credit card and bank transfer wouldn't work either but they still gave me a box of chips for free. That made me walk in Edinburgh at night offering some chips to people and got a lot of memorable experiences doing so. Cheers to the benevolent night shift. I was finally able to pay you back the next day. The chips with garlic mayo were really good too! Highly recommend ordering there, at the very least for their vibes 😇
Would highly recommend this chippy! I am a ceoliac and have been nervous eating out after several instances being ‘glutened’. Delighted to have found somewhere I can enjoy take out again ! My partner also thoroughly enjoyed his normal gluten filled fish supper. Thanks again!
For the lunchtime meal deal, the value is incredible! For a fiver, the chips you get for a portion is unreal! Throw in the main and a drink and it's probably one of the best chippies you can get for lunch
great food, very happy with the prices and the fella even gave me extra chips! propper chippy chips no less. would come again
Had a fantastic gluten free fish supper. Delicious and totally safe from a dedicated fryer. The staff couldn't have been nicer, and they even had a free-from bar of chocolate. Will definitely be back soon!
